A Performance Certificate from Opus Colorado may also be an acceptable prerequisite. The Performance Certificate, applicants must be highly advanced musicians aged 16 or older and/or meet one of the following criteria: already working on professional repertoire, pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree, or an established professional seeking continuing education.

The video should showcase their abilities with clear video quality, high-quality audio, and appropriate lighting. Additionally, applicants must provide a CV/resume and a letter of recommendation. The admissions process evaluates candidates comprehensively, considering their solo and ensemble experience, as well as the breadth of their repertoire.
Absolutely. Enrollment is open year-round, pending availability, so there’s no need to wait for a traditional semester system. This flexibility lets you begin your journey when the timing aligns with your personal and professional goals, ensuring a seamless start to your growth as a musician.
While there are no traditional semester dates, our summer session provides a great opportunity for current college students and professionals to earn a certificate/diploma on their summer break.
Our programs are tailored for musicians ages 16 and older, current college students, and post grad professionals. Whether you're advancing toward a career in music or rediscovering your passion, our curriculum adapts to your stage and goals.
Traditional institutions often focus on teaching a wide range of niche aspects of music. While this can be valuable, it sometimes leaves students with limited time to deeply concentrate on improving their core performance skills. The emphasis is often on keeping students busy with academics, rather than productive time spent on improving as a performer.
At Opus Colorado College of Music, we take a different approach. Our programs are designed with one goal in mind: fostering deep, focused growth in performance ability. Instead of constantly rushing between rehearsals and other obligations that drain time and energy, our students dedicate themselves to meaningful practice and skill development. This ensures every moment contributes directly to their progress as performing musicians.
Opus Colorado empowers students to tailor their education toward achieving specific performance goals. Advanced violinists can prepare to transition to viola or explore the unique and rare viola d’amore. Students may focus on specialized areas such as orchestral studies and excerpts, early music with an emphasis on Bach’s solo partitas and sonatas, or developing expertise in electrified instruments.
For those preparing for the next step in their education, the college offers focused college audition preparation to increase scholarship opportunities. Alternatively, students can enroll simply to deepen their knowledge and improve their skills, whether for professional advancement or personal fulfillment.
Yes, on a select basis, students may continue studying with their private teacher, provided certain guidelines are followed. Opus Colorado assigns required repertoire as part of its curriculum, and this repertoire must take priority. To ensure a seamless experience, the repertoire assigned by private teachers should not conflict with the school’s requirements.
Opus Colorado values the relationships students have with their long-standing teachers and encourages collaboration. Private teachers can help coach students to meet the college’s requirements if the student wishes, fostering a partnership that supports the student’s overall growth.
Yes! Certain aspects of the program can begin before your official start date. For example, students can start working with our in-house personal trainer, Meg, even while still in school. Physical training is a lifelong pursuit, and we highly recommend beginning as soon as you’re reasonably able to commit to it.
To ensure a smooth process, students must coordinate with the college and our licensed trainer in writing to complete the necessary steps for participation in the music physiology training.
Tuition is $2,570 per credit, totaling $17,990 for both the Performance Certificate and Artist Diploma programs. However, all students automatically receive a generous $10,000 scholarship through August 2025, significantly reducing the cost.
Additional scholarships are available based on merit and financial need. For more details about tuition and scholarship opportunities, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
